Why the published figures differ

Where the sources describe what they are pricing, they are not pricing the same thing. ProMatcher's $387.60 is stated as a fixed fee for a standing tree under 30 feet. The $1,500–$3,000 figure published by HuntsvilleTreeRemovalService.com is stated for what that source calls extra-large trees. Averaging across the two would combine different job sizes.

The variables the sources state are tree height and, in ProMatcher's case, whether the tree is still standing. Other factors may affect an individual quote, but they are not named in these published figures.

A Huntsville Utilities program the cost sources do not mention

Huntsville Utilities states on its Line Clearance page that customers who have street-side trees removed are eligible for a one-for-one tree replacement voucher, up to three trees, at participating local nurseries, and for grinding of all stumps resulting from street-side tree removal. The utility notes this applies only to street-side trees it removes, not to back-yard trees or removals requested by the customer, and that the customer is responsible for planting the replacement and disposing of grinding debris.
